August 2011 – Woodbourn tops the sale to buy the bull they want.
Woodbourn has long had the belief that if you are going to introduce a top sire to your herd and take the standard of your herd to another level, you must judge that animal carefully, not just with Breedplan figures but also visually. It is a policy which has stood Woodbourn in good stead with its progeny displaying the structural strength and correctness that Woodbourn has been striving for.
So this year when it was time to add another quality sire to the herd, Woodbourn chose Texas Dynamite E139 as the one to get. He was the bull chosen by Woodbourn from a huge selection of Angus bulls on offer during August with both his Breedplan and his structure being just what was wanted. It was a matter of bidding strongly enough to secure this excellent bull, as he had been noticed by many buyers on the day and by many who had noticed him in the catalogue prior to the sale. The press release below describes him well and Woodbourn is excited to have obtained such a bull and knows that he will give another lift to the bulls Woodbourn presents each year at the annual sale. As mentioned in the press release, there have already been offers to take up semen rights of this bull.

Extract from the press release from The Land
“Charles and Janet Wallace of Woodburn Angus had made the special trip to the mainland to purchase a Dynamite son from Texas and loved E139’s softness, muscle pattern, exceptional feet, temperament and EBVs. Woodbourn Angus had previously purchased 2 stud sires back in 2005 and 2007. Since their purchase of E139, there has been a strong demand for semen both internationally and domestically.”
“Colin Maxwell of Matauri Angus NZ and Lindsay Jones of Seedstock Marketing Services NZ inspected E139 the following day and stated he was the best Angus bull they have seen Worldwide. Lindsay said he was the best-structured and footed bull they had seen anywhere in the last few years and they both were particularly impressed with the structure, softness and capacity of his dam and grand dam.”
